Saga Circle

Saga Circle
Visit the settings for some of the most influential events of Iceland’s colourful but often harsh history. Follow in the footsteps of prominent Vikings, who were not only fierce warriors but also poets, philosophers and farmers.

The Icelandic Settlement Exhibition Centre in Borgarnes will give you an insight into the lives of early colonisers. You will also visit Reykholt, the home of Snorri Sturluson, a poet and historian of the Middle Ages who penned several of the Icelandic Sagas.

The scenery is not bad either, with waterfalls like Barnafossar and Hraunfossar nearby and hot springs such as Deildartunguhver among the many distinctive features.
